Meet red 3DS. It's very much like the standard model blue and black, but, you know, red. Taste of red flames debuted in Japan some time ago, but Nintendo finally brings it here within the United Nations system to resume Friday. (As if the color red will 3DS)
3DS wasn't exactly a hit yet. The company took a big loss last quarter after sales well below expectations. This is clearly experienced companies reevaluate price of $ 249 3DS, and thus, the system has been reduced to $ 169. The price cut will take effect this Friday, as Nintendo desperately trying to stop the hemorrhaging.
Seemingly 3DS was created to failure from the outset. Built around the market ploy, 3d-ified 3DS started earlier this year without a title blockbuster. Nintendo all telling players to wait. Good games are on their way, they said. So gamers did just that. They have been waiting for. And waited. And good games are still not here. The only notable games so far are just remakes of old games.
Price $ 249 doesn't help either. 3DS, portable Nintendo's most expensive ever. Even its predecessor, virtual boy began in the sub $ 200 price back in 1995. At $ 249 3DS was more expensive than the Sony PSP, Nintendo Wii and more importantly, the iPhone, which taught a generation of games is worth $ 1.99 or less.
