When Intel launched its Ultrabook initiative, we were pleased: full PC laptop the size of the MacBook Air? Promises Adamos and series of 9s danced before our eyes, sexy, but overpriced. Whether this new specification is one that makes our friends air toting jealous?

Unfortunately there are few ultrabooks, and those who are not competing really pricewise. And just today, we hear that Apple hogging aluminium, so people are going to make their laptops out of fiberglass. Fiberglass!

Don't worry: Intel's case, and everything will be OK.

Intel understands that Odms absolutely must get prices on thousands of bucks if they want to compete. DigiTimes reports that they call to discuss several new standard specifications adding a very reasonable $ 500-700, and if they're smart, using components manufacturers can actually get their hands on a meeting next week.

There weren't any teardowns on parts cost breakdown of the latest MacBook Airs, but previous generation estimated at slightly above $ 700 specification, as well as the updates were relatively small (a new processor, Lightning), this is probably more informed assessment.

Intel targets laptop and 18 mm, 21 mm thick (11-13 and 14-17 screens) designs with room to upgrade to their latest processors, when the time comes. No optical drive, either, which is probably a bigger jump for Windows users than Mac users. Both, depending on the options would be best at ~ 700, which with 25% margin and a room for meetings and navigation puts you nicely for a thousand bucks. And here at the high end.

When we actually see these projects is a mystery; I would guess, primarily do so Best Buy shelves will Ivy bridge model in early 2012. I hope we will hear more from the companies themselves.
